Looking back on an old baseball curse and a costume it inspired
Baseball is a weird sport played by oddballs and cheered by quirky fans (myself included). This year's COVID-disrupted MLB playoffs aren't all that bizarre by comparison. But they do have me looking back on another strange saga in baseball history, the Billy Goat Curse, which supposedly was cast on Oct. 6, 1945.
This hex may or may not have been the cause of an infamous Chicago Cubs collapse in 2003 that once again led to their failing to reach the World Series.
